In Afghanistan prevails ignorance

In Afghanistan there was a strange situation - more than three million children never went to school, and somewhere 70% of the population can't read and write. This in particular is suffering female population. According to UNESCO only 15% of all women can read and write
'Currently, 3.7 million children are deprived of good schools and education. We make every effort to ensure their ability to attend school' – said the Minister of education of Afghanistan, Mirwais Balkhi at the event dedicated to the International day of literacy.
The Prime Minister of the country Abdullah Abdullah emphasized that the low level of literacy is one of the obstacles to the development of the country. The Prime Minister also noted the need for a national campaign to combat illiteracy and appealed to international organizations, scholars, representatives of the private sector and ordinary citizens to support education.
The activities of educational institutions in many provinces is low because of high activity of militants. As you know, the Taliban forcibly closed the girls ' schools, blow up these buildings, and even kill the teachers.
