Association pedagogical, veterinary, technological universities became the basis of the birth of Shakarim University in 1995. The pedagogical University is the oldest University in the country, founded in 1934. Semipalatinsk veterinary Institute opened in 1952, and Technology - in 1963. Combining the three schools into one University due to the resolution of the Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the 13th of November 1995. Five years since the founding of the University joined a public financial institution. Only in 2013, the unification of the universities and get State University named after Shakarim of Semey city.

Our school prepares highly qualified professionals in demand in modern socio-humanitarian labour market, nearly thirty master's degree programs, forty undergraduate and five postgraduate students.

To realize their talents and abilities to the students in the debate club 'Congress', 'Parasat', the team of club of cheerful and resourceful in fashion studios, the Alliance of students of Kazakhstan's team 'Enatus' and other student organizations.

University of Shakarim is a multidisciplinary higher educational institution with rich experience, which includes eight faculties and more than five thousand students of various levels, under the leadership of three hundred thousand faculty and staff. Since 2004 the school has a flexible installment payment and credit technology of education. Material-technical base of the University is a powerful learning system, equipped with twelve buildings, numerous educational laboratories, research libraries, with a huge book collection of 200,000 books. There are two sports complexes, a special football pitch, health centre and home students.

Higher school collaborates with international universities of USA, China, Mongolia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. There are different types of agreements between these Universities, for example, students can take a course of mobility for the whole period of study, excluding the first and last semesters. The best students have the right to choose a University partner, to define the list of items that want to learn and then must apply for his Department. Residence abroad can be both paid and free, in accordance with the laws of the MES from 19.11.2008.

Student life is very diverse, there are many clubs, are the dedication of students, KVN games and more.

            Enactus is a non – profit enterprise that brings together students around the world, or rather in thirty-six countries. However, students find business-like approach to the lives of needy people on the planet. With the support of teachers and leaders in each country, students associations create throughout the country a variety of projects. In this community students learn to capitalize on any prospects. Enactus is a continuous process of cooperation of higher educational establishments of any country. Through this program, as additional training and students with a great desire to come to the educational process and their vital positions.

Each of the faculties has its own 'student Dean' composed of up to twenty people. Typically, these deans organize and lead student policy departments implement a system of self-government, develop comprehensive personality of the students, the festivities and represent the interests of students at the University level.

The agricultural Department of the Istria begins in Semipalatinsk zoo-technical Institute in 1950, there were studied 300 people. Now the faculty comprises 5 departments. 10 scientific-research laboratories equipped with the latest technology and several greenhouses.

Engineering-engineering faculty — at the moment it is the leading faculty for training personnel for food processing enterprises. More than 60% of teachers have honorary awards and titles. The chair is ready in 12 specialties. There are 6 departments, 2 research laboratories of meat and dairy plant.

The natural-mathematical faculty has 6 departments, 21 classrooms, each classroom has computers with Internet access, interactive whiteboards, tools for different tasks, audio equipment and language laboratories. Graduates of this Department have the right to continue education abroad program two diploma education 2 + 2 in Spain, South Korea, USA and Hungary.

The faculty of foreign and Russian Philology trains specialists in the study of languages, has a master's degree. Computer classes and the resource center is always available for students. There is close communication and agreement on student exchange with Russian Universities, in particular with the Altai state pedagogical Institute.

Historical-pedagogical faculty is the largest faculty of the State University nashakarim Semey. Includes 6 chairs and study at the same time more than 2000 students. The majority of teachers of our University have been graduated from our institution.

The faculty of information and communication technology is the core, producing ITprofessionals in various specialties, for each of the 7 specialties developed several training programs. Powerful technical base includes 15 modern computer rooms connected to Internet via LAN.

An important part of each University is a professional practice. In our school practice is provided for seventy specialties. Teaching practice takes place mainly in our Universities, deepening and consolidating theoretical knowledge and providing study process with the structure of enterprises, their tasks and goals. The practical part is divided into teaching practice, clinical, technological and continuous. This practice takes place in enterprises and hospitals. The objective is to improve the knowledge of students, to get an idea about the practical work in real conditions, to learn how to carry out employer tasks in time.
