In order to implement the message Of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the nation N. A. Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan strategy "Kazakhstan-2050" on further improvement of the higher education system and optimization of higher education institutions, a new higher educational institution "Humanitarian University of transport and law named after D. A. Kunayev" was created on the basis of "D. A. Kunayev University" and "Kazakh University of railway transport".
