How to enter Nazarbayev University?
1. Preface.
Nazarbayev University has been operating for 10 years. During all this time, the University has formed 7 faculties for various programs: bachelor's, master's, residency, doctoral studies, etc. Training at the University takes place in both technical and humanitarian specialties. At the same time, there are subjects that are taught in English, because some teachers are foreigners.
For those who want to enroll in a bachelor's degree, there is a one - year preparatory training program-Foundation. After completing the Foundation program, you will have a sufficient language and scientific base to continue your studies at the University AT a higher level.
It is difficult to get into Nazarbayev University, but you don't have to be an outstanding student, sometimes just perseverance is enough.
2. The collection of documents.
As soon as you have decided on the program of study and the specialty you want to enter, you can start collecting documents for participation in competitions for admission to NU.
You will need to register on the site admissions.nu.edu.kz, create a personal account, fill out a form and submit scanned copies of all documents that the system requests. Please note that registration has already been completed for applicants to the Foundation program for the next academic year, and for already registered applicants, the acceptance of IELTS/TOEFL certificates has been extended until December 25, 2020.
The list of documents is different for each training program. For example, when registering online for a bachelor's degree, you must have an electronic copy of your identity card, passport, or birth certificate, as well as a copy of your high school graduation certificate or a certificate from an educational institution with the date of graduation.
After collecting the documents, all applicants are required to write a motivational letter-an essay or a letter of justification. It must be written in English. In this letter, you will need to tell us about your education, your goals, and how IT will help you achieve them.
3. Delivery of mandatory testing.
Each program and specialty has its own standardized exams, sometimes several of them.
There are two tests for admission to the Foundation program:
APTIS Remote for determining the level of English language proficiency;
NUFYP Entrance Test to determine the level of academic preparation for studying at NU, here they evaluate knowledge of mathematics, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
For admission to the bachelor's degree, applicants pass other exams:
SAT Reasoning Test-an academic assessment test designed for admission to us universities, includes text analysis, mathematics, writing, evaluates literacy skills that are necessary for successful study at University, and shows how well examinees cope with the tasks that they learned in school;
The ACT is used as a replacement for the SAT-Reasoning Test and consists of four sections: English, reading, math, and scientific reasoning;
SAT Subject Test - a subject test, not everyone needs to take it. for example, for admission to natural Sciences, the test will contain questions in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, and for admission to Humanities, you do not need to take the test at all.
After passing all the exams, some applicants of bachelor's programs and all applicants of postgraduate programs will be interviewed by members of the admissions Committee. Due to the quarantine, the interview conditions have changed slightly, but candidates will be informed about how the interview will take place in the coming year.
