For example, physics and mathematics, humanities or biology and chemistry profiles allow students to focus on those sciences that interest them most or are necessary for admission to a university. Schools accept all students without selection. This makes the lyceum a more prestigious choice, but also more demanding in terms of academic workload.

In schools, the level of teachers can also be high, but lyceums, as a rule, attract more specialized specialists.

In addition, lyceum students are often given additional opportunities to participate in Olympiads, competitions and scientific projects, which not only helps to deepen their knowledge, but also adds points when entering universities. Schools may have such opportunities, but they are not as numerous and systematized.
