In 2025, the Kazakh alphabet will switch to Latin letters.
The debate about the translation of the Kazakh alphabet to the Latin alphabet started long ago, back in 2006. Just yesterday the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a decree on the transfer of the current alphabet to Latin alphabet. The presidential decree reads:
 
1. Replace the specified alphabet based on the Latin alphabet.
2. To create a Commission for the translation of the national alphabet to Latin letters.
3. To ensure the gradual transfer to the 'new' language of the entire alphabet by 2025.
4. To take measures for the translation of texts in the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet.
5. Management of the current decree is given to the presidential Administration.
 
After many disputes, Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted the importance of a gradual introduction of a new alphabet, the last version of which was approved on 9 October 2017, the word of the people and leading scientists, linguists of our country. Became approved version of the alphabet with apostrophes, to make it possible to transmit letters of the Kazakh alphabet as a,I,a,à,œ,±,K.,OE.
