Astana schools require major repairs

The head of the education Department of Astana said that the allocated funds for the repair of schools will not be enough. The government has allocated for repair of all schools of Astana 1.2 billion tenge, however, these funds are hardly enough for a third. This was stated by Anuar Zhangozin at the Congress to discuss the budget until 2020.

In some schools of the capital overhaul was not carried out since the early 90-ies, offices are still at the level of the Union, and from minor repairs to little avail.

'After 2000, was renovated only two schools, and the rest, built from 1945 to 93 years, has never been repaired. Design and estimate documentation and state examination have a term of three years, so if we do not make the repairs of the schools, the money that we spent lost in the shuffle.Now there was a question about the transfer of school No. 8 in a derelict state, because the state of the school leaves much to be desired. The repair is not done since the transfer of the capital.' - he explained.

According to him, in 2018 — 2020 academic years required almost 4 billion tenge, which is three times more than the allocated funds. 1.2 billion tenge will be enough not only to repair schools, but also for the purchase of new textbooks and technology, said the head of the Department. Replacement of equipment at the moment is a priority, as printers, and some computers have not changed in schools since 2000.

'Technology is outdated, we are talking about the replacement of printers in every school, which is about 208 million tenge. Replacement printers will remove the burden from the shoulders of the teachers, they don't have to print on home printers, to spend their own money on something that a government should provide.' - said Anuar Zhangozin.

The implementation of trilingual education requires the allocation of more budget for the teacher training that was requested 800 million tenge, and only received 200.

Now the total budget for all three years will amount to 130 billion tenge.
