The oldest higher education institution in Northern Kazakhstan was the Kokchetav pedagogical Institute, founded in 1962. In 1965, the Institute was named after the first scientist and educator of Kazakhstan – Shokan Ualikhanov. The number of students at the University was small, only 200 people for the entire educational institution, in 1985 the number doubled, and in 1990 there were already 2500 students. In the same year, there was a correspondence Department, and a year later there were new specialties, training in which takes place to this day. in 2014, Professor abjapparov Abdumutalip was appointed rector of the University.at that time, the University was already issuing state-issued diplomas.

Our University has student self-government – a multi-faceted system of youth policy in our country, which was created specifically to solve students ' problems, discuss the cultural and leisure life of the University, and much more. Student government teaches people to take responsibility for their own actions and decisions.

Shokan Ualikhanov KSU signed the Bologna Declaration in 2010. To this day, it is gradually building a global educational space. Our University partners include many language centers around the world and scientists from abroad. Every year there is an exchange of students in the programs "Erasmus", "IREX", "Logo", "Tempus". Through these programs, students and teachers receive training and advanced training in educational institutions in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and England. Kokshetau State University is one of the TOP 5 universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan for cooperation with foreign educational institutions.

In 2009, the University was awarded the Millennium medal, which is issued only to those educational institutions that make the most professional use of advanced modern technologies. In 2015, the Association of Europe and Asia took over the KSU named after sh. Ualikhanov. As in the old days, the pride of our University is the teachers we have graduated. Many of them work at our University, namely 9 doctoral students and almost 200 masters.

We can be proud of our teaching staff, because only we have four academicians of international Informatization, many of the teachers were awarded the title of "Honorary worker of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan".

The University library contains more than seven hundred thousand different textbooks and methodological publications, and our University publishes its newspaper "KSU Bulletin "and the scientific journal"Alau". Anyone can use the library with a student ID. Our students also get a discount for public transport.

As of 2017, the school has as many as four academic buildings, its own Internet cafe, many reading rooms, several dozen computer rooms, all offices are equipped with interactive whiteboards, and there are three museums.

For practice and educational process, we have equipped a whole complex with agricultural machinery, where the cultivation and analysis of grain crops takes place.

Any student and their parents can monitor their academic progress using the electronic education system, where you can see progress, attendance and grades for all years of study. Our professional medical center contains not only all the necessary medicines, but also a modern health complex, a sports hall and a camp located in the Zerendinsky recreation area. Many students of our sports sections are winners of national and regional competitions.

Thanks to our experienced teachers, the diligence and diligence of our students, we can compete with other Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking leading places in the ratings of our country. We develop our educational potential by implementing various international programs and projects.

KSU named after sh. Ualikhanov takes care of the health and psychological state of our students. We have constant psychological support. We have our own hostel for the students of the University. The fee for the entire year of residence is 32,420 tenge, and is made only on the basis of documents confirming the fact of studying at our higher educational institution.
